Viva glam!

Mother nature is not being too kind to us at Perisher. While we had a great dump of snow early in July, there’s hasn’t been much since. Luckily the man made snow being created is really quite good, let’s just hope the temperatures stay cool enough over the next month.

On Saturday the 10th I ventured into town (Jindabyne) for the Viva Glam Charity Ball. Forget the glam, just think outrageous! The photos will tell the story. It was a great night with a huge crowd and some pretty cool costumes. Who doesn’t love an excuse to raid the dressing-up box? All the money raised went to local aspiring Winter Sport Olympians, so it was nice to help out a good local cause.

New friends Caroline and Jono were kind enough to have us at their place. A beautiful new home nestled near Jindabyne’s bushland. Kangaroos frequent the area and thanks to some quick snapping by Mel Mac we we’re able to get some shots of the roo’s fighting out the front.

Back on the hill there are now 34 lifts open, slowly Perisher is getting there! All four resort areas are open but they’re not interlinked which is a bit of a pain – there’s some driving and tube travel involved, but once you get out its worth it. Blue Cow is looking good, the views are amazing and on a blue bird day it’s the place to be. Zali’s is a good intermediate run and Lower rollercoaster is probably what you’d call advanced.

I’m no jibber but the parks at Perisher are looking great. I have a lot of friends making the most of the Slopestyle Park on front valley and they’re really happy with what the park team have come up with. There are a few unusual ones like the stall ball, and some good box combos and new rails. Construction of the super pipe has started. I have a good view out my window so it’s exciting seeing each stage. I think it’ll be a few weeks away but the rumour around the resort is they’re trying to get it finished in time for Torah Bright’s visit.

This weekend it’s Christmas in July so i’m looking forward to my first white Christmas, well sort of! Birthday celebrations are also coming up, so i’ll keep you posted with the goss!
